It can sometimes be hard to plan for a trip that everyone will enjoy, especially if you have teens. However, there are tons of restaurants, attractions and more in the Smokies, so you can all compromise on a truly memorable experience. To help you plan for your trip, here are 5 tips for a fun Smoky Mountain vacation with teenagers.

1.Include Them in Decision Making

One of the best ways to get teens excited about vacation is to involve them in the planning process. It’s a great idea to sit everyone down and ask where they would like to go. You can also create an itinerary and include an attraction or two that every family member is interested in. This way, you can plan for a vacation that suits everyone!

2. Give Them a Budget

It can be easy to go over what you had planned on spending when you’re out and about on vacation. When establishing a travel budget, consider giving your kids individual budgets of their own and allowing them to keep what they don’t spend. This will not only give them a sense of independence, but it will also teach them how to save! There are plenty of places to go souvenir shopping in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Your teens will love picking out their own special memento to remember their trip by.

3. Assign Tasks to Them

A great way to get teens to be present and in the moment while on your Smoky Mountain vacation is to give them responsibilities. Teens are at that point where they want to start being seen as adults, and fulfilling these tasks can give them a taste of what it feels like. This can be as simple as looking up restaurants, or tending to a younger sibling if they are old enough to do so.

4. Skip the Alarm

With all the popular attractions and scenic views in the area, you probably have a lot on your Smoky Mountain bucket list. However, skipping the alarm and allowing your kids to sleep in a little bit longer on vacation may be the best thing. This way, you can relax and enjoy a cup of coffee in peace and get your morning routine into full swing before they wake up. With a full night’s sleep, they’re also more likely to be in a good mood and have more energy to do all the fun things you planned.

5. Pick the Perfect Place to Stay
