Gatlinburg SkyLift Park is already one of the most exciting destinations in the Smokies, and it’s about to get even better this spring with the addition of the Gatlinburg SkyTrail ! This scenic walkway will connect each end of the SkyBridge and provide the unique opportunity to enjoy a leisurely walk on top of the mountains! Here are the top 3 things you need to know about the SkyTrail coming to Gatlinburg SkyLift Park:
1. What to Expect
The SkyTrail at Gatlinburg SkyLift Park is a new walkway at the top of Crockett Mountain where you will be able to enjoy an exciting stroll with spectacular views of the Smokies! The walkway travels from one end of the Gatlinburg SkyBridge to the other, and it will offer 3 distinct sections. The Boardwalk section is an elevated wooden walkway that leads from the SkyDeck and back along the hillside of the ravine that cuts under the SkyBridge. During this portion of the walk, you will have the chance to read interactive signs about the history of the area. The Lookout section is a steel tower set back in the ravine that will feature elevated viewing platforms, while the Pathway section will be a smooth walking path cut into the natural hillside!
2. Location Information
The SkyTrail can only be accessed by taking the SkyLift from downtown Gatlinburg. This iconic chairlift ride has been providing rides to the top of Crockett Mountain since 1954 and is an incredible attraction all on its own! During your aerial journey from the heart of town, you will travel up 500 vertical feet to experience the best views in Gatlinburg! The chairlift departure point is located at 765 Parkway, but the easiest way to find the station is simply by looking for the yellow and orange lift chairs going up the mountain!
3. Admission Tickets
One of the great things about Gatlinburg SkyLift Park is the admission tickets include unlimited all day access to the attractions on top of the mountain! You can even leave for a few hours and come back later in the evening by presenting your wristband when you reach the lift! When making your plans to check out the new SkyTrail, be sure not to miss the SkyBridge too! This is the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America and literally crosses through the sky as it stretches 680 feet across a deep valley in a single span. Once you reach the middle of the span, you can even stare straight down into the valley through the special glass panels!
