Although it is most famous for being Tennessee’s only ski resort, Ober Gatlinburg offers plenty of fun all year long. This summer, visitors to Ober will have a brand new way to beat the heat. It was recently announced that the Smoky Mountain amusement park is adding a special bumper car section to its ice rink! A Fun Twist on a Classic Attraction
For years, Ober Gatlinburg has offered a year-round ice skating rink inside of its enclosed mall. At 140’ X 75’, this large indoor rink has long been a favorite place for vacationers to cool off during the summer months.
Now, half of Ober’s rink is occupied by the brand new ice bumper cars. Just like traditional bumper cars, these vehicles are designed for plenty of playful nudging, ramming, and bouncing. Because the cars are located on ice, they effortlessly glide around the rink like giant curling stones. In their Instagram post announcing the ice bumper cars, Ober Gatlinburg summed up the new activity as “a fun twist on a classic attraction.”
Early reviews of Ober Gatlinburg’s ice bumper cars have been overwhelmingly positive. On TripAdvisor, one reviewer wrote “We did the bumper cars on ice, and it was fantastic! Everyone had such a good time in our group, we couldn’t stop laughing…Probably the most fun we had on our vacation!”
Guests must be at least 3 years old to ride the ice bumper cars, and anyone 6 or younger is required to ride with an adult. The activity costs 2 tickets, which works out to $7 per person (Ober Gatlinburg’s wristbands cannot be used). Each bumper car session lasts for 10 minutes.
