During the holiday season, the city of Gatlinburg is transformed into a winter wonderland complete with over three million Christmas lights! What to Expect

Gatlinburg’s trolleys will take guests on a wonderful 45 minute tour of the city’s spectacular Christmas lights. The route includes the downtown Parkway, River Road, and Highway 321.

This year’s light displays will feature evergreen forests, jolly snowmen, and sparkling
fountains. Guests can also expect to see depictions of local wildlife found in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, such as bears, foxes, rabbits, and deer. The Christmas lights in Gatlinburg are not only beautiful, they are also environmentally friendly. The city has recently converted to efficient LED bulbs that provide a 95% savings in energy costs.

Where and When

Winterfest Christmas lights

The Trolley Ride of Lights will run from November 12, 2014 – January 25, 2015. Tours leave nightly at 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30 p.m. The trolleys will not run on the first friday of December, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, or New Years Day. During the month of January, tours will only be on Saturday nights.

You can board the trolley at the Mass Transit Center located at 88 River Road (near traffic light #5) in downtown Gatlinburg. A trolley ride costs $5.00 and can be purchased online at the official Trolley Ride of Lights website.
